This is an example of a building built during the ancient Roman times that show their great archetectural designs.

Pompeii

Pompeii is another example of Roman Archetechture. It has been rebuilt many times due to natural disasters.

The Aqueduct

The above three pictures are of the Roman aqueducts. they are channels that carry water constructed fo brick and stone. One of the most famous aqueducts was the Pont du Gard.

Arches

The above two pictures are of arches. They were used for both support and decoration. Later they were used to honor leaders.

Augustus Caesar

Augustus Caesar was a religious title meaning revealer.

Columns

The above two pictures are of columns. Columns were used for two main reasons. These were for support and for decoration. These are examples from Rome but they were adopted from the Greeks.

The Colosseum

The above two pictures are of the Colessum. The Colosseum is a massive ancient Roman structure. It was used for entertainment such as a bloodshed show. It is four stories high and shaped in an oval. Its seats about 50,000 spectators on marble and wooden benches.

Typical House

This is a typical house. It would be constructed of one large atrium surrounded by small windowless rooms.

Trojan Horse

This is a picture showing the wooden horse used in the Trojan War.

Invoking the Muse

This is an example of a god invoking the muse. This was a classical construction that was often used in Greek and Roman writings.

The Panthenon

The above two pictures are of the Panthenon. it is a place for all the gods. It was built during the reign of Hadrian. Like the colosseum, it is a gigantic curcular building, constructed from brick and concrete.

The Charioteer

This statue is called the Charioteer. It was constructed of cast bronze and is lifesize. It is located at the sanctuary at Delphi, in Greece.

Discobolos

This statue is called Discobolos or Discus Thrower. Its creator was Myron, one of Greece's ancient masters. The original statue was made of bronze and probably destroyed by Roman invaders. The picture that you see is a marble copy that was done by the Roman artists.

Zeus

This is a picture of a sculpture of Zeus' head.
