Pembroke by Night

As you walk down the damp mainstreet, the fog from the river slowly rolls in off the side streets. It has been awhile since you were here, but not much has changed. You watch the cars drive pass and you wonder, as they go on with their self-absorbed lives do they realize what lives in the shadows of the night? Would their feeble minds go mad with that knowledge or would they subconciously choose to ignore it.

Walking further down the street you hear a noise, 'ah, the Lupines are out again' you think to yourself, but this time they sound closer, inside the city limits. 'But doesn't the treaty prevent that?' you ask yourself, but then you remember there is NO treaty with the Lupines. You pull your coat closer around you as you finish that thought. Glancing at the faces that pass you by, you realize that this city has the ability to suck the life out of people.

Ah, there's no place like home.
