Lemonjella's Lair -- The Cast of "Detention"
Let's look at pics of some of the cast who bring "Detention" to life, shall we?
| Tara Charendoff (Shareena) | Billy West (Emmitt) | Carlos Alazraqui (Gug) | Pamela Ferdin (Shelly) | The Mowrys (The Twins) | Kathleen Freeman (The Teacher) |
Tara Charendoff (now Tara Strong)
Detention voice: Shareena Wickett

Tara Charendoff (right) and Craig Strong (left), whom she'd later marry.
Other Signifcant Roles: Dil Pickles in "Rugrats" and "All Grown Up!", Bubbles in "The Powerpuff Girls" and Timmy Turner in "The Fairly OddParents", as well as the little girl Melody from the video release "Return to the Sea", not to mention appearing in 2 Sabrina telefilms as a bumbling Brit witch named Gwen.

Billy West
Detention voice: Emmitt Roswell

From
this page on the CGI show Voltron the Third Dimension, to which he lends his voice.
Other Signifcant Roles: Ren (and later Stimpy) in "Ren and Stimpy", Fry et al. in "Futurama", Geeker in "Project Geeker", and Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd in the movie "Space Jam". Ever noticed that Fry and Geeker have the same voice? Now you know why.
Carlos Alazraqui
Detention voice: Gug

From a promo site for his one man show: "This is a Size 6... and This Is Your Head".
Other Signifcant Roles: The title character of "Rocko's Modern Life", Winslow the rat on "CatDog", the principal in "The Fairly OddParents", and most importantly to some people, the chihuahua in ads for Taco Bell ("Yo quiero Taco Bell").

Pamelyn Ferdin
Detention voice: Shelley Kelley

From her official site,
www.pamelynferdin.com.
Other Signifcant Roles: The daughter on "The Odd Couple" way back in the 1970s, and, for people who like animation, the adorable little girl from "Charlotte's Web", which had Debbie Reynolds as the title character. She also lent her voice to Peanuts character Lucy van Pelt in the 1960s.
Instead of showing pics of her other roles, here's a link to a site full of them! www.pamelynferdin.com also proudly declares itself Shelley Kelley's site. BTW, this role was her first in 17 years (after last appearing in "Heidi's Song" in 1982).
Tia and Tamera Mowry
Detention voices: The LaBelle twins, Lemonjella and Orangejella

Tia's on the left, and Tamera's on the right.
Other Signifcant Roles: They were the twins on "Sister Sister", which, at the time of the toon's premiere, had just been cancelled. They also appeared in the telefilm "Seventeen Again", which, unusually, found Tamera playing Tia's grandma. (Tamera played the younger version of that particular character.) Also, their brother Tahj was in it as an aspiring scientist (ever notice they often play smart kids? ;-)) with Tia as his sis (just like in real life).

Kathleen Freeman
Detention voice: Ms. Kisskillya, the teacher

From the
Full Monty website. (BTW, Kathleen died in August 2001.)
Other Signifcant Roles: Her only other animated role was as Mrs. Gordon, one of the teachers in "As Told By Ginger" (Mrs. Gordon would later be killed off in the second season). Speaking of which, that show features 2 people who once guest starred on "Detention": Larraine Newman (Ginger's mom) appeared in "The Contest" and Melissa Disney (Ginger) appeared in "Little Miss Popular" (neither of which I saw). She was also part of the Broadway play "The Full Monty", and she also had a regular role on "Hogan's Heroes".
