My Personal Odds and Ends
Basically, odds and ends I've uploaded to my page, but had never been linked to before. Enjoy!
Transcripts of Hey Arnold! eps
April Fools' Day
Married
What's Opera, Arnold?
Spelling Bee
The story behind these: While on the webboard I frequent, I noticed that someone had put up the transcript to "Married". So, I copied it and reformatted it for readability, and put it up on my webspace (not forgetting to credit the original transcriber, of course). Later, I found a transcript to "What's Opera, Arnold?" on the same webboard, and on another webboard I found a transcript to "April Fools' Day", both of which I treated the same way. And after Hey Arnold! actually started airing over here, it was my personal desire to transcribe "Spelling Bee", and I did so after I made an audio recording of the ep in question (you can also check out sounds from that and other HA! eps here).
My entry in a web design contest: Welcome to Thailand
The story behind this: In May 2000 (when I was in 12th grade), a local magazine ran a web design contest for students. My father having, in effect, forced me to participate, I submitted this entry (or so I thought... see below). There were limited themes to pick: I remember that there were 4 and My Family and My School were 2 of them. I picked another one, My Country. Not sure what the other one was... Myself, perhaps? Anyhow, it was supposed to be a team competition, but since I couldn't be bothered to find anyone else to help me, I had to do everything myself. As a result (added to the fact that there was only 2 weeks to the deadline for submission when I started), the effort was a bit rushed (it probably didn't win any points for aesthetics). I only submitted my effort (correctly) on the deadline day. I needed to submit my website's URL on an entry form, put my site on a floppy, and send those by post. The previous day, I'd only sent the entry form, and I only realised my error later that day.
3 years later, while I was digging up stuff for this very page, it suddenly dawned on me that I most likely may have submitted the wrong URL. This is what the contest judges may have seen.
Pics of Angelica Pickles on Rosie O'Donnell's morning talk show:
Pic 1
Pic 2
The story behind these: I used my webspace to keep these pics so I could put them on my home computer after I'd seen them at school. Looks like I never got around to deleting them... At a guess, these pics appear to be Angelica promoting the first Rugrats film on Rosie. (She's not the only animated character to put in an apperance on Rosie... I believe that Steve and Blue, from another Nick show Blue's Clues, also put in an appearance as well.)
My attempt at a Hey Arnold! fanfic: hanz2.txt
The story behind this: Having read the transcript to the 90-min ep of Rocket Power titled "Race Across New Zealand", I decided that RP and HA! could go together. Pitching my idea on the webboard I frequent and a chatroom I also frequent, I recieved some negative feedback. So I decided to go about trying to prove them wrong by writing some scenes for my idea... and this is the result. When I showed this to everyone else... well, they really didn't like it.
A Zip file of Georgian music in MIDI format: GeoMidi.zip
The story behind this: There was one time I was obsessed with anything Georgian and Armenian, and I sometimes still feel it from time to time. I mostly downloaded fonts, but I also downloaded this gem here: A Zip collection of Georgian songs, in MIDI format.
An Armenian transliteration program in QBasic: armeni.bas
The story behind this: During my little Caucasian binge, I set about creating a program (I'm an avid Basic programmer) to convert all that Armenian gibberish into Roman letters (I've done so for Georgian and Inuit as well). This was the "original" QBasic version, which handled both types of Armenian font (those where the Armenian letters were mapped to the Roman letters, known as "Yerevan" here; and those where the Armenian letters were mapped to a different part of the ASCII structure, known as "ArmSCII"), although limited to a single line of 120 letters or less (a QBasic limitation). I later ported this to Visual Basic.
My works of poetry: poetry.txt, poetry2.txt
The story behind this: In December 2003, a regular at the Toonzone Forums wrote a lengthy poem which effectively summarized and reviewed the SpongeBob and Hey Arnold! Christmas specials. The poetry bug hit me, and I was adding prose to my posts: for example, I wrote a poem about how Rocket Power seems to have abandoned its two prospective pairings, but that won't be showcased here... Here are poems which are, in effect, ep summaries for the All Grown Up! ep "Susie Sings The Blues" and RP's "Race Across New Zealand".
