Middie Player of the Month

This month we will feature the seniors of the Year 2000. The future of Middleburg Softball is bright as six seniors return to a team that finished 1999 with a 14-7 record, and advanced to the District 4 Semi-finals.

Tiff Inch, Senior, Pitcher....Tiff set the Middleburg High School Softball strikeout record in 1999 with (66), while walking just 14 batters, in 112 innings. She was 13-6 on the mound as a junior, and selected as a Tri-Valley League All-Star, she was also named our team MVP. Tiff has good command over five pitches: fastball, knuckle-change, riser, drop, and "gunner". She is also ranked #1 in her class, and is class President.

Tiff Morgan, Senior, Shortstop....Tiff will graduate as a 4 year Varsity member, and three year starter at shortstop. Tiff was also named a Tri-Valley League All-Star (2 years in a row), and in 1998 was a Daily Item Big 15 Player. Tiff has led the team in assists the last two years, and has a career fielding percentage of 91%. In 1999 she was also the 3rd leading hitter in our league.

Kristy Musser, Senior, Firstbase....Kristy is a tremendous athletic talent. She was a league all-star in softball, basketball, and soccer as a junior. She was the Middleburg Softball MVP as a sophomore, and is a two-time Tri-Valley League All-Star. Kristy has committed just 2 errors in two seasons at firstbase, and also swings a powerful bat. She was the team leader in homeruns and rbi's.

Jackie Sheaffer, Senior, Centerfield....Jackie will finish her career at Middleburg as a 3 year letterwinner, and two year starter. Jackie is our teams leadoff hitter, and has great potential as a base stealer. In 1999 she hit over .330, and stole 18 bases. Her speed is also an asset in the field, as she is capable of making the spectacular catch. Jackie was also a Tri-valley League All-Star selection in 1999.

Stacey Tittle, Senior, Outfield....Stacey was the starting rightfielder in 1999. Stacey is an experienced player, participating in summer ASA softball. Stacey has a quick bat, and has the potential to drive in runs. She is also a capable fielder, with a strong, and accuarte throwing arm. At the plate Stacey may be the team's best slap-hitter.

Dena Sprenkle, Senior, Outfield....Dena was a very important part of our success last season as a role player. Dena has great athletic ability and quickness and is capable of playing any outfield position. As a courtesy runner in 1999 she was tied for second on the team with 18 stolen bases. In the 2000 season we look for Dena to become a starter, and a league leader in runs scored and stolen bases.
