Rockin Baja Lobster

Various locations in Oceanside, San Marcos and Bonita we visited the San Marcos location in restaurant row.

Just as the name implies, This place rocks! The atmosphere is pure party. The festive decor and loud music give the feeling of a south of the boarder cantina. The service is casual and a couple of their margaritas will put you in that laid back tequila time.

The menu is authentic Baja seacoast village with the emphasis on that feisty crustacean, Mr. Lobster. They also have more traditional Mexican fare and even burgers, but with buckets of grilled lobster and shrimp tempting you, well why bother. The dinners all come with a Caesar salad and all-you-can-eat beans, rice, tortillas and salsa bar. Try the exotic fruit salsas that compliment the seafood as well as their chili honey butter.

They offer a full bar with several tap beers on hand. In the evenings the noise level can be really high. With the video monitors mounted throughout the bar area it lives up to its name. If you want a more sleepy cantina mood, try it for lunch.

The seating is comfortable, there are armless chairs available but if it's busy you may want to request one before you are seated. The patio is nice but has those darned plastic formed chairs. We are sure you could get an armless one from the main dining room, if you needed it.

The Bonita location does offer a Sunday brunch. We have never tried it but it may be worth a look.

RATING: a double
