Cheap shots; Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot full of political humor, obesity jokes

If you are looking for a fairly funny book with biting political satire and a lot of cheap shots, Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot and Other Observations by Al Franken is for you.

The book, about Al Franken (Saturday Night Live) and his political views, begins with a review of the book by New York Times reporter Jeane Kirkpatrick. She criticizes the book heavily, mercilessly picking apart every minute detail. Of course, her dislike of this book is all too understandable. After the book review, there is a Letter to the Editor of the Times from Franken complaining about having a former lover review his book. That in itself is slightly amusing. However, the book does take a turn for the worse.

Franken goes on about how fat Limbaugh is. He never stops. Just a couple of jokes would be fine, but he goes on forever. If it wasnıt for the repetitive and monotonous cheap shots it would be a fine book. The book is also very informative. Franken proves Limbaugh to be a liar and a hypocrite. Besides talking about Limbaugh, Franken also tells of his own political views, his early life, and other assorted experiences.

The book is quite funny if you disregard the Limbaugh jokes. Franken has a wonderful sense of humor and has done well as a political satirist. He tells of going to political conventions, meeting Bill Clinton and playing football with him. Some of the funniest passages are Frankenıs discussions with Limbaughsıs fact-checker Waylon.

One of the most unfunny passages was a little story Franken wrote. It was a story about Vietnam that had Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich, Phil Gramm, Dan Quayle, and others acting like total fools. He manages to insult all of them incredibly with unfunny toilet humor.

This book is at best something to read on a boring Saturday afternoon. Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot and Other Observations by Al Franken is available in the school library and bookstores.
