Welcome To The Land of the Midnight Sun

Thank's for dropping in. Life above the arctic circle is exciting to say the least, and yes there is a small group of skydivers living and jumping here. Kotzebue is a small town of about 3000 people (mostly Inupiate Eskimos) located on the tip of the Baldwin Peninsula about 30 miles above the arctic circle in northwest Alaska.

The only way to get here is by plane as there are no roads this far north and the only ships visiting are fuel and cargo barges. There are 11 villages in the region with a combined population of around 5000 people. The villages are served by 6 bush airlines and Kotzebue has jet and turbo prop service daily by the larger airlines.

We skydive up here from about the end of May until the end of September. There are 24 hours of daylight for most of the summer with temperatures ranging from the mid 60s to the mid 70s.

Winters are very long up here and the temperatures are extreme but the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) are beautiful. There is great hunting and fishing through out the region with large runs of salmon and sea run trout. The largest caribou herd in the world (450,000) is also here.
