Simon's Organ Page.

I often play the organ in St. Andrew's Parish Church while I am back at home. The earliest recorded organ in the church was installed in 1799, and stood at the back of the church, as opposed to next to the chancel, where it now stands. It was not until 1870 that a new organ was installed in its present place. It was built by J.H. Harrison of Rochdale. This organ was then rebuilt 18 years later by Wilkinson's of Kendel. The last rebuild occured in 1971 by Jardines of Manchester, and was reduced from 3 manuels to 2!! The organ was recently cleaned by Rushworth & Draper of Liverpool for £30,000. The organ has 2 manuels, with 4 pistons per manuel. It also has 8 different combinations of these.

The church where I am organist and choirmaster, is in a Liverpool suberb called 'Aigburth', and is situated on the corner of Aigburth Road and Dundonald Road. Naturally, it is called Aigburth Methodist Church. The organ is made by Binns, and has 3 manuals. It has 6 general pistons, and 4 pistons on each manual. Because of lack of funds, we cannot afford to repair the organ, but it is still a very fine instument.
