Noah's Ark
God destroyed by flood the earth's animals and human inhabitants due to the depravity of the human race at that time. All perished except for those who joined Noah on an ark that God instructed him to build so that some life would be spared.(Genesis 6-9) Noah's boat is inspired by Egyptian and Minoan vessels. The Chinese character on the stern of the ship is "flood", while the character on the bow is "boat."
