CLAYBROOKE, GREAT AND LITTLE

Two adjoining parishes and villages (Claybrooke), south Leicestershire, near junction of Watling Street and the Fosse Way, 3.5 miles north-west of Lutterworth. Great Claybrooke 1,090 acres, population 321 (ecclesiastical district 879). Little Claybrooke 536 acres, population 75. Post office, telegraph office called Claybrook. Contains Claybrooke Hall, 1 mile north-east of village. On a current (1998) large-scale road map these two villages are now shown as Claybrooke Magna and Claybrook Parva (curiously, without the "e"). I would love to hear from anyone who knows this house. Is it still standing? Are the present owners also Grewcocks? Is the lovely old cedar still there?
