HOW CAN I HELP?

Welcome! This page has been made in the hopes that some will take the time to read, learn, and hopefully decide to take a stand and help in the fight against child pornography.

A WARNING: Some of the sites here are not appropriate for children. Please monitor your children here and throughout the internet.

This page came about through my own quest to find ways in which I could help fight against child pornography, particularly, but not limited to the existence on the internet. I found myself in need of more information and knowledge when I became involved. I hope to share here some informative and helpful sites that I either came across or were shared with me by people in an online newsgroup that I used to participate in. A few contributors from the group were Kallie3 and Teresa, my thanks to them and the others of the group who have taught me so much. My main goal with this page is to educate, inform others, and hope that they will take this knowledge, and use it to pass along what they have learned.

So your first question is "How can I help?"... First, you need to educate yourself on the issue. Read material on the ways the internet, other media, and private individuals, produce and perpetuate the problems of child pornography. Then you should learn more about the current legislative laws governing child pornography and ones that are just being proposed and how to communicate with elected representatives your concerns over the issue of child pornography. You also need to know how to report any child pornography you find and where to report it. I will attempt to give you as many helpful links, and information as I can on this page to help you learn what you need to know. Last, but not least, I will give some sites on how to help protect your children and teach them about the dangers.

A disclaimer before I begin, I'm not a professional on these issues or this subject. I'm simply a concerned person who decided to put as much information as I could on this issue in one location for access.

Thank you for visiting this page and feel free to share it with others.

The best place for reporting child pornography on the internet is:

*A few words of caution, before the sites. First, I do not recommend seeking out child pornography for the purpose of reporting because of legal considerations. For those on WebTV there is some debate over whether we could be liable to be charged with a crime by clicking on a post or site with child pornography due to the nature of our connection to the internet. If you do come across such material in posts or sites never forward the post with the pictures or the site. Document the information such as location, time of post, header information on post and as much pertinent information as possible and report it quickly, some posts are removed after a period of time.

US Customs Service/Treasury Dept. - please read this site for more information. Their toll free tip line is (800) 843-5678 and the e-mail address to the Custom Dept is icpicc@customs.sprint.com read the web site for more information!

One other place to call is the Missing and Exploited Children's Center at 1-800-THELOST they work closely with US Customs and the FBI.
