Lilac Angel

I could be working, I could be sleeping
I always know when she enters the room
For where she goes, so do the Lilacs
I detect the scent and am frozen
What to say, how to act, who am I
I look at her, but I can never look in her eyes
She is for the grace of God
Angelic in all her splendor
Her hair spun of gold, her eyes are diamonds
I think, I wonder, can I
However, I must decline
She is beyond my glory
I am but a stranger to emotion
It is not my place to learn to love
Slowly, but surely she spreads her wings
She smiles sweetly, then takes flight
For a moment time freezes
Her body is suspended in time
Her figure engraved in my mind
Angels are not ment for me
My humanity not whole enough for her
For my angel of lilac
