MATERIALS DATA BASES ON THE INTERNET

Here we will give the links to various web pages or sites, which have materials data base available on the internet. These are either the entire web sites devoted to the data base, or they may be the web pages on specific web sites. At present, these are not in any special order. Only order exercised is that FREE sites are listed first, and sites that require any kind of subscription or payment are listed afterwards.

 General Properties of Materials
This commercial web site has a fairly large data base, where one can quickly find the general properties of 13000 materials and their respective suppliers.

Phase Diagrams and Other Thermodynamic Information
This collection of web pages at the Georgia Tech gives an excellent web based compilation of the binaries, ternaries, and ceramic phase diagrams. Not to be used in the mission critical applications, as they would be approximate.

 MEMS Materials data base
This data base is collected by the MEMS Clearing house. This  Material Properties database is useful for the design and analysis of MEMS structures and devices by         practitioners, researchers and students. Data base includes the mechanical, electrical, optical and thermal properties of the MEMS materials.

Data base on the interaction of X-rays With The Matter
This data base provides the various X-ray properties of the matter. Things such as absorption edges, atomic scattering factors, electron binding energies are provided for various elements.

 Materials Soft wares And Algorithms
This data base at the Cambridge University provides the software for the computer modeling of materials and processes. You can also submit your own software for the validation purposes.

Search Engine For Composites and Other Materials
This search engine may work better than the usual engines to refine your materials related searches. Though designed for composites, it also has information on other materials as well. You can also join the mailing lists on various composites related topics. Free access.

WWW Polymer and Plastics Data Sheets
The site contains, information on over 30,000 plastic materials. Data sheets may be looked up by product name or the generic name of the plastic or polymer. Access is free.

Ferrous and Nonferrous Alloy Data Base
This web site has a database on nearly 5000 ferrous and nonferrous metals and alloys. Apart from mechanical and physical properties, it also discusses properties such as: welding, machining, and forming data. Access is free.
