Peter is the Top BEST IN
SHOW winning Airedale with 26 BISs and multiple Specialty wins, including
the Airedale "Bowl", Best of Breed at Westminster in 1995 and 1996, and
Best of Breed at Montgomery County 1996. During his three year
campaign, beginning in March 1994, he was rated the #1 Airedale Terrier
-- All Systems -- for 1994, 1995 and 1996. "Discovered" in Virginia
Beach by Peter and Andrew Green, he was initially sponsored by Beverly
and Kim Shavlik. After the first year, Joseph Vaudo provided the
backing that carried Peter to the top. Named for the biblical Peter,
he provided identity confusion while residing at Greenfield Kennels.
To make matters worse, I later sent a young male named Andrew to the Green's.
For a variety of reasons, I was unable to attend any of the shows where
Peter won BIS, until the last two. I was blessed in seeing him win
both the record tying and the record breaking BIS right in my own area.
I was thrilled. It was worth missing all the others just to see these
two back-to-back BIS wins. He ended the year going BOB at Montgomery
County -- the largest Airedale Specialty show of the year. We made
arrangements to bring him home after Westminster. It was a mistake
to pick him up at the show. Everyone associated with him was sad
to see him retire and the feeling traveled down the lead. Peter ended his
career with an Award of Merit and went home to become a "couch potato".
Except, of course, when his girlfriends come to visit. With limited
breeding he was the #1 Airedale sire for 1997, and the #2 Airedale sire
for 1998 (determined by the number of champions produced). Peter
was also tied for the #2 Airedale sire for 2001.
| He is going through a "second puppyhood"
and loves to cuddle and play with stuffed animals. |
