Clerks is the first movie in the New Jersey Trilogy and in my
opinion it is the most creative of the three. It was the first
movie in the great slacker series and it was writer/director
Kevin Smith's debut film. It was done on a very low budget and
most of the cast was very inexperienced, yet surprisingly it
met great success. Clerks follows a few days in the strange
lives of a convenient store clerk named Dante and his friend
Randal, a wisecracking video store clerk, through a black and
white security camera point of view. It also introduced the
two greatest slackers who ever graced the silver screen, Jay and
Silent Bob, the only two characters to make it into all three
movies in the trilogy. This movie will more than likely make you
afraid to ever walk into a food mart or video store ever again
but the laughs are well worth it. The movie was originally NC-17
for language so if you don't like crude humor (but who doesn't?!)
you might want to steer clear of this one. Below are some of my
favorite pics and .wav files from the movie... ENJOY!
