WHAT'S WRONG WITH MY CHILD?
WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME?
WHY CAN'T I READ?
Have you or your child ever uttered these words? Have you
felt guilty because you couldn't give your child what
he/she needs? Well, stop it. Understand that learning is
a very individualized brain process. We are not all wired
alike. As a matter of fact, hardly anyone is. But, some
of us can acclimate ourselves to a regular classroom
situation for learning. We are the lucky ones. And then,
some of us cannot learn in that classroom or with that
particular teacher.
Haven't you heard about children who are failing
everything except one class? Maybe it's something hard,
like Algebra, that the child is passing. The child says
he only does well because he likes the teacher. The
parent says something like, "If my child can pass
such a hard class, then, he is just too lazy to work hard
enough to pass the others."
Sound familiar? Well, take another look. Maybe your child
learns in a different way. Intelligent children usually
do not learn "just like everybody else". They
perceive information in a different manner. That's what
makes them researchers, scientists, etc.
