Undying Love

Chapter 16

The clock read 6:30. She had an hour before Jacob and Marie came to take them to dinner. She wasn't looking forward to the whole thing. First of all, she didn't want to see Marie right now. She never wanted to see Marie. It was like she tried to be too nice to her mother on purpose. Like it was all an act. It was all an act.

She also knew that Jacob thought something was up. He was there to experience her problem the last time, so he knew what to look for. She could remember a few times since she had been there that Jacob made sure she ate something. So she did. But throwing herself deeper into the problem, she just threw it back up.

She only did that once or twice and she hated it. She knew that throwing bulimia into her problem was going to cause more damage then she could handle. It already had. But she managed to keep control so no one would notice.

Cara looked out her bedroom window to where the noise was coming from. She saw Zac, Jessie, Avery, and Mac coming out of a car with Diana. They sure made alot of noise. Cara's headache was gone, but something about her didn't feel right. She couldn't pin-point it, though. She decided to put her skates on and see if Zac wanted to go rollerblading with her. She grabbed her house key before skating out the door and over to the Hanson's house.

"Is Zac here?" she asked Walker as he opened the door.

"Oh, hey Cara. Yea, he's here. Come on in." He opened the door for her.

"Oh, that's okay. Can he come out?" she asked. Right then Zac came to the door with his rollerblades on.

"Hey Cara! I was just about to see if you wanted to go rollerblading with me!" Zac took Walkers position at the front door. Walker went back inside.

"What a coincedence! That's what I am here for!" Zac skated outside and onto the street.

"I didn't know if you could or not." he said, smiling an evil smile.

"I'm okay," she said, knowing that she was probably just as good, maybe even better than him. "Let's go!" Cara took off for the park at the end of the sub-division. Zac was impressed. She was good. Real good.

"Hey! Wait for me!" he called. She spun around and stopped. He caught up with her, passing her just a bit. "I'll race you to the park!" he yelled. She sped after him, catching up to him by the time the park came into view. They stopped on the basketball courts, calling it a tie. Zac spun around Cara, while she was trying to catch her breath. Zac stopped and looked at her.

"Cara, are you okay?" he asked.

Cara looked up at him, her face pale as could be. "Yea. I just need some water."

"Well, come on. There is a fountain right over here. God! You are so pale. Are you sure you are okay?"

Cara knew something was up. The ground was spinning, and it wasn't because she was out of breath. She could rollerblade forever. She had more endurance then anyone she knew. She knew if she could just get a sip of water, everything would be okay. "I'm fine. I just need..." She started to skate to the water fountain, almost like she was hypnotized. Zac was really worried. He skated up to her and put his hand on her back so she wouldn't fall. He wouldn't have been so scared, except he knew the reason she looked so pale wasn't because she was out of breath. She was never out of breath.

Cara felt Zac's hand on her back and she leaned against it slightly to keep her balance. She got to the water fountain and leaned against it before taking a sip. Zac turned it on for her. She leaned over to drink. But right before she could get water in her mouth, she colapsed, hitting her head on the side of the water fountain.

"Cara!" Zac yelled. He dropped to his knees to see if she was okay. Her eyes were closed and she wasn't saying anything. He checked for a pulse. He found a faint one.

"Oh my god! Cara! Get up!" He was shaking her like she was asleep. Knowing that it wasn't doing any good, he skated over to a pay phone. Hoping that he didn't need a quarter, he dialed 911.
