The Car Wars rules
Armor Types, Chassis and Suspension
Armor Types
Armor Cost/Weight is the cost and weight of a single point of ablative plastic armor. Cars carry armor in six positions: front, back, left, right, top and underbody.
There are also special types of armor (All armor in a vehicle must be of the same type):
- Fireproof Armor (FP) costs twice as much as normal armor. FP armor cannot be set on fire.
- Laser-Reflective Armor (LR) costs and weighs 10% more than regular armor. LR armor takes half damage from lasers.
- Laser-Reflective Fireproof Armor (LRFP) is 2.5 times normal armor cost and weighs 10% more. LRFP armor combines the advantages of FP and LR armor.
- Metal Armor is comparable to Mech armor. It costs 2.5 times as much as regular armor, and weighs 5 times as much. Metal Armor only loses a damage point if a Mechwarrior weapon rolls a 6 on one die. Even if the weapon does not damage the armor, there is a chance that it damages the inside components. This happens if the damage is greater than the armor value in the location. Damage in the excessof the armor value affects the internal components.
- Metal Armor can be polished to gain LR abilities. This adds an extra 10% to the cost of the armor.
Chassis
The chassis is used to allow a vehicle to carry more (or less) weight.

Any car larger than a compact may have a six-wheeled chassis. It costs an extra 20 C- Bills, plus the cost of the extra tires. Pickups and vans with Extra-Heavy chassis must have six wheels.
Suspension
This has a very big function in the Car Wars system because it determines a vehicle's beginning Handling Class. I tried to convert the Handling Class to a modifier for the Drive/Ground skill in Mechwarrior.

I copied the term HC (Handling Class) to keep the table smaller but I listed the Drive/Ground modifier!
Vans and subcompacts (Sub) have different modifiers. Light Suspension is standard.
Off-road suspensions negate the modifiers for off-road driving. Any vehicle with no off-road suspension will take a +3 modifier while off-road.
