Thought For Today

21-Jan-2004

Matthew 8:8 The centurion answered and said, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.

Matthew 8:9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

Matthew 8:10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

This man with the great faith was a centurion! He wasn't a Jew, but yet he believed that Jesus had the power to heal his servant. Read the rest of the chapter the servant was healed! The children of Israel had less faith that the centurion did. Let me translate this into what I think this means for us today!

The church today is the children of Israel, the lost today are the centurions, thats simple don't you think? The same as it was then, the children of Israel should have had the faith, and the centurion the non-belief! Today there are many in the church that have less faith, and belief than many of the lost out in the world!! We as the church should be standing up for our God, we should not be ashamed to say we believe in our God! The lost in the world are not ashamed to say they drink beer, or liquor, they usually brag about it, why can't we brag about our God? If we bragged about our God more then I believe that many of those lost who brag about their sins would become braggers of God instead of their sins!! If we began to lift up God before the world the way drinkers lift up their booze, then many would understand the love of God, and they would turn their lives over to the Lord, and becomes born again centurions! Think about it!
