James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
James 1:23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass.
The bible is God's living word. If we are to live the lives that God has for us to live, then we must believe that the bible is God's living word, and if it is God's living word then we are to do his word, and not just speak it!
We cannot be hearers of the word only, we must do his living word! If we go to church and hear his word, and then do nothing with what we hear, we are decieving ourselves, the bible plainly tells us what we are to do, and how we are to live, if we do not do as it says, or do not live the way it tells us to then we are only deceiving ourselves.

This is someone that is like looking into a mirror, all he sees is himself, he is interested only in what he will gain! This would be someone looking out for themselves, and themselves only, with no concern about his brother's and sister's in Christ. This would be someone going to church just to gain prestige in their community, or at work, going to church to gain earthly desires, not spiritual rewards that would bless God! To hear the word, but not do the word is no better than being lost in the world, because if you do not try to live the way the word of God tells us to then you do not truly believe the bible.
