Besides the regular "random" enemies are the bosses. These critters often deal more damage and are harder to beat. Below is a list with all the bosses of Final Fantasy VII. The WEAPONS are listed apart from this list since they are harder to beat.
Disc 1 Bosses
Guard Scorpion
Picture
Hp/Mp: 800/0

This is the first boss you'll encounter. Use normal attacks and lightning on it. When he raises his tail, just wait or heal yourself. Whatever you do, don't attack! he will counter with his taillaser. Simply wait until he lowers his tail. Then continue attacking him.

Guard Scorpion
Air Buster
Picture
Hp/Mp: 1200/0

You'll attack this boss from two sides. Simply attack with limit breaks and Lightning. You can attract its attention when you attack him, so use this in your advantage.

Aps
Picture
Hp/Mp: 1800/0

This boss is fairly easy, simply use Fire and normal attacks on him. He can attack using a tsunami, but this hurts himself as well.

Reno
Picture
Hp/Mp: 1000/0

Reno can do a fair amount of damage with his stick. Simply heal from time to time and attack him. When he uses his pyramid attack, simply attack the one that is imprisoned. If you don't do this, you can lose the game when all 3 are imprisoned.

HO-512
Picture
Hp/Mp: 1000/120

Ignore the little samples in the front row. Focus all your attacks on the main boss. Use Fire and Ice on him. When you get poisoned simply continue fighting. Heal when you're low on hp.

Hundred Gunner/ Heli Gunner
Picture
Hp/Mp: 1600/0 (Hundred)
Hp/Mp: 1000/0 (Heli)

Two bosses that come right after each other. With both bosses, use lightning and long range attacks. Red XIII's limit break work also well. Don't forget to heal with Aeris from time to time. These two shouldn't be that hard.

Hundred and Heli Gunner
Rufus/ Dark Nation
Picture
Hp/Mp: 500/0 (Rufus)
Hp/Mp: 140/80 (Dark Nation)

First cast Poison on Rufus to  speed up the amount of damage. Then kill the black Dark Nation first. After that hit Rufus with everything you've got. Heal from time to time and Rufus will board his helicopter and fly away.

Rufus and Dark Nation
Motorball
Picture
Hp/Mp: 2600/120

Attack this boss with Lightning and Ice, keep your Hp up as well because this boss can attack with Fire doing serious damage. After you've defeated this boss, you'll be out of Midgar.

Motorball
Bottom Swayer
Picture
Hp/Mp: 2500/100

This boss flies so some characters can hit it while others can't. Use limit breaks and spells to deal damage. Poison works well against it. Should it cast a bubble around a character cast a magic spell on the character and the bubble will disappear.

Bottom Swayer
Jenova Birth
Picture
Hp/Mp: 4000/110

The first of the Jenova incarnations. Use everything you got against it except Poison. Keep your Hp up at any cost because Jenova can attack with its laser which does lots of damage. When you beat it, don't forget to pick up the Ifrit materia.

Jenova Birth
Dyne
Picture
Hp/Mp: 1200/20

Dyne is Barrets old buddy who went crazy. Therefor Barret must face this boss alone. Use poison on him and physical attacks. Since Dyne deals enough damage to fill your limit bar, use limits as well. He's pretty easy to beat.

Dyne
Rude and Reno (Gongaga)
Picture
Hp/Mp: 2000/135 (Rude)
Hp/Mp: 2000/80 (Reno)

This is the first time you will encounter these two. Use spells on them and take care of your own Hp. They shouldn't be so hard. Use Choco/Mog as well to stop Rude.

Rude and Reno at Gongaga
Gi Master
Picture
Hp/Mp: 5500/200

This boss main attacks are done by his two flames. But he can also drain Mp from your characters. Use summon spells like Shiva and Choco/Mog. Also attack with normal weapons. Use all attacks on the Gi Master not on the flames.

Gi Master
Lost Number
Picture
Hp/Mp:????/???

This boss can be avoided in the game, however, you won't be able to get Vincent if you do so. To beat this boss, use everything you have against him. Choco/Mog sometimes stops him. Beware that he can become very powerful if you kill his below part and let the top live.

Lost Number
Materia Keeper
Picture
Hp/Mp: 8400/300

You can clearly see this enemy coming. So if you're not ready, don't attack him yet. This boss can use Trine as skill so equip the Enemy Skill materia to learn it. Cast Choco/Mog to stun this boss and also haste yourself so you gain the upper hand. Then attack him with everything you got.

Materia Keeper
Palmer
Picture
Hp/Mp: 6000/240

This shinra executive is easy. Simply attack him with physical weapons and summon spells. He should be easy to beat. When you defeat him he will run away but gets hit by a truck. Don't worry, he isn't dead.

Palmer
Rapps
Picture
Hp/Mp: ????/???

This boss is either extremely difficult or easy. It depends on when you encounter it. Should you do Yuffie's Subquest as soon as you have the Tiny Bronco we suggest using the most powerful items on it (Since you don't have materia). Its Aero attack spell can really do lots of damage.

Rapps
Red Dragon
Picture
Hp/Mp: 6800/300

Slow the dragon and Haste yourself to gain the upper hand. Use all summons you have except Kjata (Kujata PC version). Use Big Guard at the start to really gain control of the battle. If you defeat this boss, don't forget to pick up the Bahamut Materia it leaves behind.

Red Dragon
Demon's Gate
Picture
Hp/Mp: 10.000/400

This boss is one of the most annoying in the game. His "cave-in" attack deals a lot of damage and his "demon rush" can really hurt you. First of all cast the "Big Guard" enemy skill on your party. Then attack him with Bahamut and normal physical attacks. Heal from time to time and you'll beat him.

Demon's Gate
Jenova Life
Picture
Hp/Mp: 10.000/300

The second incarnation of Jenova is pretty easy to beat. Watch for its "Aqua Lung" enemy skill though. It can do lots of damage and might kill your party in one try. Equip one of the characters with the water ring (Which you find in a chest near the City of the Ancients).

Jenova Life
Disc 2 Bosses
Twinhead
Picture
Hp/Mp: 18.000/350 (left)
Hp/Mp: 18.000/350 (right)

This boss has two heads which each has there own weaknesses. The right head uses fire while the left uses cold attacks. Simply use all summons on it except Kjata. Poison has no effect as well. We hope that you have learned the Big Guard enemy skill because you'll need it in this battle! First focus on the right head and then on the left.

Twinhead
Jenova Death
Picture
Hp/Mp: 25.000/800

The third incarnation of Jenova is certainly no challenge. Attack with all you have and haste yourself as well. Equip the Dragons Armlet and the Fire ring to give extra protection. Ribbons are also advisable since Jenova will silence you.

Jenova Death
Carry Armor
Picture
Hp/Mp: 24.000/500
Hp: 10.000 (left arm)
Hp: 10.000 (right arm)

This boss has no strong standard attacks but his Lapis Laser can do 1600+ damage which can really hurt. Also it can use its arms to grab a character thus imprisoning it. If it has two characters trapped and the third dies, the game ends. So use all you have to kill its arms first and then its body.

Carry Armor
ProudClod
Picture
Hp/Mp: ????/???

First kill the Jammer Armor that is attached to ProudClod. Once its destroyed use everything you have against the main structure. Haste yourself and use Regen as well. If you have any kind of Barrier we suggest using that too. This boss isn't hard but takes a lot of damage before destroyed.

ProudClod
Hojo
Picture
Hp/Mp: ????/???

Hojo uses several capsules to distract you. Simply focus all attacks on Hojo, the other don't do much damage. When Hojo changes form, use spells that can damage all parts. His final form isn't very strong but can be really annoying if you don't have Ribbons equipped. But use the same strategy as with other bosses and you'll beat him easily.

Hojo
Disc 3 Bosses

Jenova Synthesis
Picture
Hp/Mp: ????/???

Jenova's final incarnation looks impressive but its not very hard to beat. Simply haste yourself and use everything you've got against her. Ignore the countdown because usually you'll beat her before it reaches 0.

Bizarro
Picture
Hp/Mp: ????/???

Bizarro is Sephiroth's first incarnation. You can attack it from more then one side using multiple groups. Focus your attacks on all parts except part C. When you'll be asked if you're worried about your friends, you can say yes to switch to the other group. When you've killed all parts, you can focus all attacks on part C. You'll eventually kill it.

Seraph Sephiroth
Picture
Hp/Mp: ????/???

Also known as "The One Winged Angel", Sephiroths final incarnation is not difficult! First of all do as with all boss battles (Big Guard or Haste etc.). Then use the most powerful summon spells you've got on him. Knights of the Round will almost kill him in one try but Bahamut ZERO with Quadra magic can also be helpful. Be sure to heal yourself from time to time. And remember you can't hit him with short range weapons when he flies. He can also summon "Super Nova". A spell that deals serious damage.

Bosses Tips

Gi Master

An odd thing happens when you use a Hi-potion on this boss. Try it and you'll see what we mean.

Onyx WEAPON

There are 5 WEAPONS in Final Fantasy VII. And you'll fight only 4 of them. Some people claim there is a WEAPON called Onyx. This is another false rumor. The ones you'll encounter are: Ultimate, Ruby, Diamond and Emerald. The fifth, Sapphire, gets killed by the Shinra.

Tunnel battle
You can avoid the last battle with Elena, Reno and Rude by simply saying "No".
