Make your own free website on Tripod.com

These are just some points I'd like to make that I'm asked about enough to put them on this page.

1.) Why is the layout of your page so ugly? (So, ok, maybe no one's actually come right out and said it like that but...)
Hmmm...the layout. Well, when I first started this site, it was to put up my stories and to host other peoples. I was expecting maybe two at the most (bear in mind that BSB fanfiction wasn't that big last year). I never gave much thought to the layout. Now, I could re-do the whole thing, add graphics, frames, java, whatever else, but I honestly don't think anyone would really care, except if it took their browser an hour and a half to load the page. Basically, what I'm saying is that, the reason I don't use frames or fancy graphics is because that's not what my site is about. If you're on the site, you're obviously there to read, not admire my web design, or wait forever for it to load.

2.) When are you going to update ________?
This is probably the most popular question I get asked. I honestly don't know. I try for once a week, but it's kinda hard with everything that goes on in a life. I try my best, but sometimes it's just not good enough and I'm sorry about that.

3.) Are you going to use graphics to indicate which stories are updated or finished?
Ok, I gave this one a lot of thought. I was going to do it, but I've decided against it. Not everyone has a super-fast modem. Not everyone uses "the internet on cable". Some do, and I respect that. (I had better, seeing I'm one of them.) But, I don't want someone who has a slower modem to feel that they're wasting their time waiting for the page to load. Again, I realize that my layout looks like a child constructed it, but if you don't like it...well...tough. (Wow, now that wasn't rude, was it?)

4.) Where do you come up with this shit? (Usually written pertaining to a story I've written...and not usually asked like that, but whatever.)
I don't know. Different inspirations. Dreams, stuff that actually happens to me, songs, movies, books I've read...and I don't mean that the plot is the same. I mean that it just...makes you want to sit down and write. I can't explain anything (as I'm sure Lisa would be happy to tell you!) so if you don't know what I'm talking about, don't worry about it.

5.) Do you have a life?
No. Leave me alone.

6.) Are you insane?
I don't think so. But if you were to ask other people that know me, they might beg to differ.

7.) Can you write a story about me and _______?
I would LOVE to write a story about you and your favourite Backstreet Boy (Julis...the name, the name!), but I don't have enough time to do that. I'm honestly really sorry.

8.) How old are you?
This question used to bother me A LOT. Simply because, when I started my site, I was one of the youngest BSB fanfic writers (that I knew about...and no, I was not like 5 years old). It bothered me because people would start to treat me slightly differently when they found out my age. It doesn't really get to me anymore because there are more and more authors posting their work, who are my age or younger. If you really really want to know how old I am, if you can't live without knowing, if the water in your system will wither away and make a cactus leaf (woah, and I make NO sense), then e-mail me and we'll talk.

9.) Where are you from?
This question kinda confuses me. See, I live in Canada, but I'm not Canadian. Whatever. We're not going to get into that. (For the record, I'm British...no, I don't have an accent anymore and NO, I don't own a dress with a union jack flag thing on it).

10.) How many stories do you have hosted on your site?
I don't know. I don't keep track of things like that. If you want to count them, be my guest!

11.) Why don't you have a guestbook or a page-hit-counter?
Believe it or not, it's not my level of incompetence (such a pretty word!) that prevents me from having these on my site. They're just not very important to me.

12.) Do your parents know about this site?
Um, not that it's ANY of your business, but they know I have a site...they know that I love to write...but they haven't read any of the stories I've written for this site. They just read the stuff they can manage to get their hands on.

13.) For someone who's only 1*, you sure have a sick sense of humour.
My my my...what a nice compliment...thank you!

14.) Are you married?
I was actually asked that one. And no, I'm not.

15.) What's your name?
Kid Rock. Just kidding. Off the record, I think Bawitdaba is a really fun word. Say it a few hundred times...it's so great! Yes, and WHAT am I talking about??? Ok, back on topic. My name is Kimberley. That's L-E-Y at the end. And it's Kim for short.

16.) Why don't you have an updates page?
Am I the only one who feels like they missed something here? Anyway. There is an updates page. Yes, there is. http://members.tripod.com/~Blue_Chocolate/updates.html.

17.) Some of your stories are really dumb...why is that?
Ok, so no one has ever come right out and asked it like that, but I know some of you must think that. I know that the first ones that I posted, to be frank, sucked. I just keep them up because it makes it look like I can actually finish a story.

18.) Is there like a big rivalry between every fanfic page/site?
Good God, I hope not. No, I don't personally see a big rivalry between sites or pages at all. Most of the other webmistresses (woah, and I really DON'T like that word) and/or authors that I've talked to are really supportive, amazing people to talk to. Of course, some of them are obnoxious but hey, the world is not a perfect place (and I'm probably one of thoes obnoxious people!). It's kinda nice to have them to relate to. After all, we're all in this together. Our sites are usually to post a collection of fanfiction...right?

19.) I sent you an e-mail a really long time ago and you haven't replied yet. What the heck is taking you so long?!?! (Usually not asked like that, but hey!)
I try and reply to my e-mails within a week of receiving them. If I haven't replied to yours by then, it might be because for whatever reason, I can't get on the internet. Also, people who use AOL...sometimes the e-mails I send you, get sent back. I don't know why. It happens very randomly. (Random...such a pretty word.)

20.) What's your name?
How many times must I go over this? It's Kim. K - I - M. Simple, isn't it? You'd be surprised how many e-mails I get, calling me Kelly, Katie or Kat. You'd be even more surprised by the amount of e-mail I get saying, "Hey, I e-mailed you a really long time ago but I can't remember your name!"

21.) Why do you take down stories?
Stories are removed from my site for a variety of reasons. Most often than not, authors find that they have either lost their inspiration for a particular story OR they just don't have time to update it anymore. There are also the cases when I choose to take a story down. Either this is because it contains content that has been offending to a number of people OR...I just don't have the time to host it anymore. I know it sounds rude but wouldn't you rather have it hosted on a site where it can be updated daily than on mine, where the updates have been severely lacking for the past...oh, I don't know...three months or so?

22.) You've been around for a long time. Do you think that some people find that annoying or even threatening?
All right...I can see where you're coming from. Hmm...how do I answer this one? Some background information...when I started my site there was a limited number of fanfiction sites (pertaining to the boys of backstreet) up. Um...the only one I can think of that is still around and was around BEFORE I even got my site up is...Torie's site. I'm sure there are others, but she's the only one I can think of right now. Right. Anyway, so...well...all I can think of is WHY in the name of thin markers would you find it threatening or annoying? If you don't like it, don't read it. It's extremely simple. I don't think I've really answered the question but...tough bananas. [Tough bananas...what was I thinking?!?]

23.) When are you updating __________ ?
I don't know. It depends. If it's a hosted story, sometimes the author won't have sent me the next chapter. If it's one of my stories, I might not be thoroughly satisfied with it...heck, I might not even have WRITTEN it yet! I'm working on it, I promise.
