A Continuing Circle of Pain

written by Elizabeth Waller

There's a sudden memory invading my head.
A picture in my mind.
Feelings flying everywhere.
Emotions all unkind.

Why did this have to happen now?
Things really never change.
They all know how to shoot me down
From a close and personal range.

I feel a circle forming here.
It happens time and time again.
My sorrow all falls down like rain.
Different people; a different friend.

They kill me slowly one by one.
They know my feelings well.
When will they finish what they started?
Time can only tell.

I wish for them they do it soon.
I know not how much I can take.
Once The phase of numbness passes
I'm sure the earth will shake.

I know that feelings come and go.
I know this is all too true.
It's just too bad that memories stay,
And that mine are never through.

Why do I leave myself open now?
I know the truth lies in my brain.
I know this hell will never stop.
It's a continuing circle of pain.
