Frozen In Time

written by Lisa Ghidotti

The salty scent of your body as it caresses mine
Is searched into the empty abyss of my mind
The resonant sound of your voice still rings in my ears
My hands are warm, still tinglish with the unforgotten touch of your skin
Most vivid though, is the image of you and me running constantly through my thoughts
Once scene frozen in time

I see you clearly in my eyes, as lucid as the image of you and her before me
When we talk, I hear traces of love mingling with the wariness in your voice
If that is so, then why are you with her?

Your lips were two rose petals that blushed upon my cheek
Those homespun sugar kisses you gave sweetened up my life
Taking me up to heaven, burning me hotter than any hell
I would ask you if her kisses touch you like mine, but I know they can't
Looking into your eyes, I see pools of chocolate that melt over my body
Caressing every inch of my ripened skin

only I can see this, not her

Do you remember the time we collected snowflakes, the falling stars that fell for the sole purpose of pleasing us?
How our passion melted the miniature crystals into pools of reflecting water?
Only we were too occupied to stare into them

It's snowing again
The same flakes are slowly lifted to the earth by an unseen hand
The same droplets reflect your face
Only, it's not my eyes that look back
