Never Say The Q Word

.

Never say the Q word, a refrain we all have said,

When things are not so busy, and never when it's dead.

For bad things will befall you, things will not be swell,

The nice relaxing night you had, will quickly go to hell.

.

You would think that I'd know better, after twenty years and three,

Not to push my luck like that, and set the demons free.

The other night I did it, I spoke the phrase of fate,

That peaceful night we had enjoyed, went quickly out the gate.

.

First it was a car chase, oh man what a ride,

It ended when the suspect, very nearly died.

Then there was a bar fight, down in District One,

Two hundred of them fighting, it was not very fun.

.

Car chase number two began, somewhere in District Four,

A suspect in a stabbing, had the pedal to the floor.

Then there came the MVA, the cars they numbered three,

On Venables and Clark Drive, a near fatality.

.

B and E in progress, was the next thing in this show,

A unit arrived there just in time, to see the suspects go.

One more car chase, then began, over to West Van,

The suspect clipped a Hydro bus, dumped his car and ran.

.

These were just the highlights, of a onetime peaceful night,

Because I spoke that naughty word, I had to put it right.

And so I paid my punishment, to all those on Echo shift,

A dozen fresh made doughnuts, to give each squad a lift.
