My Plan For Saving Ice Dance
Ice Dance is a wreck, it is becoming more and more like an easy pairs or just like a skating theater. Here is an idea on how to make things better.
What we need to do is make a new discipline called Ice Drama and make Ice Dance into a technically difficult discipline.
1 Ice Drama:
For skaters whose programs are composed mainly of a lot of theatrics and sometimes tell a story. Who ever acts the most dramatic wins.
The ice actors would have 2 programs the free act and original theatrics called OT for short.
In the free act the skaters would skate to their own music, themes and programs.
In the OT they would all skate to the same theme or story, such as Romeo & Juliet or Carmen, but they would add their own choreography, music and ideas the most creative programs would get to the top.
2 Ice Dance:
For skaters whose programs are technically difficult and consist of good footwork and other elements, danced to fast good beat rhythms. This category would be for skaters who actually skate. It would be like real dancing very fast with lots of footwork and a maximum 4 lifts in the free dance, and 2 in the OD
The Ice dancers would do the Compulsories and Original Dance, and Free Dance.
There would be two sets of medals this way, so every one would be happy.
Using the 98 Worlds as the example I chose two sets of medalists in each of my new discipline and improved discipline:

Gold
We all know who won the gold: Vic & Shae of course! Their Riverdance is just so awesome! It's the most technically difficult to begin with the footwork is awesome and its just so fast and amazing in the fast parts, and in the slow part its beautifully romantic, Bourne & Kraatz are especially good at romantic programs, and their hydroblading makes them even better.
Silver
My choice is Punsalan & Swallow; their free dance was soft and sensuous, and oh so romantic! They did lots of hydroblading too, it was wonderful. The way they skate is really amazing you can tell just by looking at their feet that they are doing something really marvelous.
Bronze
This couple could win in either ice dance or drama; they are Margarita Drobiazko and Povilas Vanagas. Their free dance is captivating and intriguing, it's romantic and dramatic. Their skating is simply wonderful and very difficult
In Ice drama
Gold
The most emotional, moving program at Worlds was Jesus Christ Superstar, which was tragic and very dramatic. Since it was skated by husband and wife team: Irina Lobacheva & Ilia Averbukh, it is beautifully romantic and they skated it so nicely.
Silver
Marina Anissina & Gwendal Peizerat 's Romeo & Juliet free dance is very dramatic and passionate, and is my choice for silver. When Marina lifts Gwendal it's really neat, you don’t see that very often.
Bronze
I would have given Anjelica Krylova & Oleg Ovsiannikov gold if Anjelica had not let the fact that Pasha was not there get to her head. She ruined the effect of the dance with all her showing off. If only they had skated Carmen like they had at the Olympics. But still it was extremely dramatic
