Lana was titled "The Sweater Girl" when she did her first real screen role at the age of 16 in "They Won't Forget".
In the film Lana plays Mary Clay, a young girl who is raped and murdered in the begining of the film.
Because Mary had to appear suggestive (for obvious reasons) Lana was given a tight sweater to wear in her big screen debut.
She was one of the most popular pinup girls among U.S. servicemen in World War II.
She had seven marriages (8 ceremonies married to Steve twice)
Some people know only the tabloid rumors of Lana's famous scandal in 1958. The murder of Lana's boyfriend, Johnny Stompanato, who was stabbed by her 14-year-old daughter, Cheryl in self-defense. There is much more to Lana than this tragic story, don't believe all the tabloid stories...

As legend has it, Lana was in high school skipping typing class, when she was "discovered" at a soda fountain by a Hollywood film journalist. After making her film debut in They Won't Forget (1937), Ms. Turner appeared as a showgirl in Ziegfeld Girl (1941) before starring opposite Clark Gable in two films, Honky Tonk (1941) and Somewhere I'll Find You (1942). She played a gangster's moll in Johnny Eager (1942) and completed over 50 films spanning from 1937 to 1980. She was best remembered for her sizzling role as Cora, a murdering adulteress in The Postman Always Rings Twice (1946). She did a brilliant job as Georgia Lorrison in Vincente Minnell's The Bad and the Beautiful (1952) and earned an Academy Award nomination for her role as Constance MacKenzie in the film based on the novel, Peyton Place (1957). Imitation of Life (1959) and Madame X (1966), proved to be box-office hits. Later Lana played the recurring character Jacqeline Perrault on the popular night time soap opera "Falcon Crest" in the 80's. (Season 1982)
