SCRAPBOOK START-UP

In order to upload images to your scrapbook, you must first activate your scrapbook. To so, you must read and accept the license agreement, then, create a web page. The page does not have to be a work of art, you just want to open up your scrapbook for loading purposes.

Here's how:
1. Go to your home page, your cursor will be on the mail Icon. Move the cursor two Icons to the right.

2. Your cursor should now be on the community Icon. Click the "Return" key.

3. You are now on a page with three options --- Page Builder, Chat, and Discuss. Click on "Page Builder"

4. You will see an Introductory Page. Read the page, place the cursor on "Continue" and clickon the Return key.

5. You will see the license agreement, read and Click on "I accept" (at the bottom).

6. Now you must create a web page to get the scrapbook started. Don't know what to create at the moment? No problem! We will create, then destroy a page just to activate the scrapbook and give you an idea of how the process works.!

7. You should be on a page with a menu to the left and the words "Choose a page style" as a heading. In the upper Rt. Corner is an Icon, that when clicked will show various other page "Styles!" (These are not styles, they are backgrounds for your text and images.) Choose a "Style," place your cursor on it and click the Return key.

8. Now you have a background, you need to add something to it. Click on "Add an item" at the top (or bottom) of your background.

9. You will be taken to a page having various options for things to "Add" to your page, Check the optios out and then, click on "Text", then write your name or something, anything in the text box.

10. Move your cursor to done and click the Return key.

11. Move the cursor to Publish, on the left menu. Click the Return key.

12.Yu will be offered the options of Titling your page and writing a description of your page. Ignore these for now, place the cursor on "Continue" and click the Return key.

13. Read and ignore the new options offered. Move the cursor to "Publish" and click Return.

14. Move the cursor to "Done" and click Return.

You have activated your scrapbook. A Scrapbook heading should now be listed in the menu on the left, if not you have made an error and need to start over.

Now, you need to unpublish the page.

1. Place the cursor on Index (Top of the menu), click the Return key.

2. Place the cursor on the "no title" published page listing, and click the Return key.

3. Now place the cursor on "Discard page" and again, click the Return key.

4. A message will appear asking if you wish to discard the page. Confirm "Discard" by clicking the Return key.

You will have discarded the test page and retained your Scrapbook listing on the left menu. Now you will need a "tool" to save those images to your scrapbook! I would love to sell you a "tool" for a mere $49.95, plus shipping and handling, but have been told that Webtv is non - commercial! (So how cum all those ads on everyone's Webtv pages?)

I suppose the only thing to do is to give you one free and take the loss off my taxes! Right! LOL (Laughing Out Loud)

SCRAPBOOK UPLOADER

The SIMPLEST, EASIEST & QUICKEST method for WebTV users to upload images to scrapbook, that I have found. Uploading requires only three clicks of the Return Key!

PREPARATION

KodeKracker is actually composed of two pages. Page one is the Introduction & Instruction page. At the bottom of this page is a button marked FTP, DO NOT CLICK THE FTP BUTTON! You will automatically be taken to the uploader page, and the author failed to provide a way back.

1. To obtain the Instruction page, go to KODEKRACKER and save to a FAVS Folder.

2. Read the instruction page, then click the FTP button. This is the uploader page, which does the actual work. Save both to the FAVS folder until you are familiar with it's operation or to be able to pass it to a friend.

3. Now that you have the uploader in a Favs Folder, open that Folder and we will place your uploader on an F-Key for convenience.

SETTING UP YOUR F-KEY

1. Click on Organize on the folder menu. A page will open having 5 options --- Discard, Listing, Move Folder, Rename and Shortcuts.

2. Click on "SHORT-CUTS, (Bottom, right column) a page will appear having all the files in that FAVS folder listed vertically. On the left will be the FILE logo or name, and on the right will be a column of gray buttons.

3., Place the cursor on the button opposite the uploader logo and click the Return Key.

4. You will be transported to a page Having a vertical column of buttons with F-#s on them. Place the cursor on the button that you desire to use for the KodeKracker and click Return. The F-Key button will light up.

NOTE: I usually put "TOOLS" on the center F-Keys and Websites on the outer F-Keys, so I can remember their locations easily.

5. Having chosen an F-Key, scroll to the bottom of the page and click DONE. this will take you back to the page with the gray buttons.

6. Scroll down the page and click DONE. You now have KodeKracker on an F-Key. When you click the F-Key you chose for KodeKracker, it will appear and is ready to do it's job.

TO USE KODEKRACKER

1. View any image and click the KodeKracker F-Key. The uploader will appear and your image will be shown in the center of the page.

2. Click your Return key and a Pop-up message will appear saying "You are about to upload an image to Scrapbook! Do you wish to continue?"

3. Click Return again and the pop-up will appear and say "You have just successfully uploaded an image to Scrapbook!" You can then click on Preview and view the image in your scrapbook.

Duffy's Abbreviated

F-KEY SAVER

You will see these great F-Key Savers on many Webtv sites. They hold enormous amounts of collected info. and provide relief for bulging FAVS Folders.

Originally created by Owens4, who has graciously allowed other webbies to use his F-Key idea. The F-Key now comes in many sizes, colors & forms. My version is built on the code work done by ~Lucille~

Another F-Key builder whose work you may wish to see is DJMikeT's. who seems to have a new version every few months. The one above has 30 Keys, with 11 drop down menus per Key. That would hold 330 saved websites! And you can put 32 of them in a FAVS Folder!! Now thats information storage!!

However, most instructions are too brief and cryptic, therefore, confusing to a NEWBIE! These F-Key instructions are complete and the F-Key itself is small, Just for you NEWBIES to learn and practice with!

This is an abbreviated version of ~Lucille's~ F-Key, with only three buttons, but you may add as many as you want and at your own pace.

I have broken the code into its various components for ease of identifying the sectons and their purpose. The code breaks into three parts having four different functions.

The three parts are:
1. The starting code of the F-Key saver
2. Three F-key Button code segments
3. Your ending code segment.

Copy all five sections of the code.Where there are breaks between sections, I suggest you place dotted lines with a blank line above and below them. The beauty of having the lines between the button sections? The lines keep them separate as you work on one button, on one row, at a time. Much less confusing or intimidating, while learning, than working on a page filled with enough code for a 30 button F-Key Saver!

I have placed more info. and links to the original version of this F-Key saver and two others above and below so you may refer to them.

Sec. 1. The code, below the pair of double lines, is the start of your F-Key Saver.

Sec. 2. This section contains codes for a three button table row. Notice, the first code group starts with  <tr>.  This is the HTML signal for the computers to build a Table Row.across the screen. This is Function 2, of the code. The Table Rows will automatically align Left by default.
The <td align="center"> code is telling the text (<td> = table data) to center itself, within the button. You must copy these three sections once for each row of buttons you wish to add.

SEC, 3. The closing code and final function for your F-Key Saver. Copy the code exactly and don't allow any new blank spaces in any of the five sections.

<!-- Start Table //--><table bgcolor="black" border="10"width="530">

<tr><td align=center><form method="post"action="Blank"><input type="submit"value="Blank"width="170"text="ffffff"borderimage="file://rom/borders/buttonborder4.bif"></form></td>

<td align=center><form method="post" action="Blank"><input type="submit"value="Blank"width="170"text="ffffff"borderimage="file://rom/borders/buttonborder4.bif"></form></td>

<td align=center><form method="post"action="Blank"> <input type="submit"value="Blank"width="170"text="ffffff"borderimage="file://rom/borders/buttonborder4.bif"></form></td>

</tr></table> <!-- Stop Table //--></center></body></html>

Once the code is copied onto your page, place your dotted line between them. Then, where it says "post" action, place the URL of the saved web page between the Quotation (" ") Marks, replacing the word Blank. Where it says "submit" value, place the TITLE of the saved web page, between the Quotation (" ") Marks and again replacing the word Blank.

Once you have all the desired info. in place, remove the lines and butt all the code strings tightly together. Don't leave any new blank spaces and don't erase any code characters in this process.

To add more rows of buttons, just break the code string between </tr> and </table> at the closing section, Copy another blank row of buttons in the space made and repeat the above instructions. Any buttons left unchanged will read Blank button.

You may change the background or text colors, using text or Hexidecimal code. You can also add a heading if you desire.

Don't forget to place <html> in the VERY TOP, LEFT HAND. CORNER of the page. The stop </html> symbol is already in place. If you work carefully you can make a perfect F-Key Saver the first time.

To function fully, it must be on a published Web page and saved to FAVS, then you and others can refer to it at any time.

The Abbreviated F-Key and instructions are my work, but the original version of this F-Key saver was created by, and used with the kind permission of:~Lucille~

Thank you,~Lucille~DJMike T and of course, the originator,Owens4!

Writing  LARGE TEXT  Letters

To write a LARGE TEXT letter to a visually impaired friend. there are two methods you may use.

A. You may use the CAPS LOCK KEY, and write all :CAPS, :which will feel awkward and the punctuation will be highly frustrating! Plus, if you forget to UNLOCK the Caps Lock Key, you will find yourself flaming someone.

Net etiquette considers writing in all caps to be shouting (flaming) and unkewl! The person you flamed will have a tendency to shout back and/or develop an emotional wedgie! And we can't have that! Hehehee

Or you may:

B.
Use HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language). This method will allow you to familiarize yourself with the use of HTML code symbols and forms, write in normal size letters, use normal punctuation and send a letter that will arrive in Large Text. Now won't that be great!

We will once again, go by the numbers to start:

1, Just below the Subject line of your e-mail page, at the VERY top left hand corner, type:
 <HTML>

This is the VERY first symbol in any HTML code. If even one single character, even one blank space comes ahead of this, the code will not work. Also, you must not have open, blank spaces among your code symbols, they must butt up against your text and each other. The only allowable blank spaces are in your text. Therefore, avoid the return key when writing code, the code will wrap itself as necessary.

2. You now have <HTML> add <H1> leaving no space between them so they look like this <HTML><H1>

3. Now we shall add this symbol <p> This indicates the beginning of a new paragraph. Remember no spaces! This makes our code string look like this:

<HTML><h1><p>

4.
We will need a greeting! How about Dear Aunt Emm, we add this to our code and we have:

<HTML><H1><p>:Dear Aunt Emm,

5.

At this point you have actually typed the 1st line of a block (No indentations.) form letter. Remember the print must butt up against the code--no blank spaces except in your actual letter text.

6. We wish to put one blank line between paragraphs and the various parts of our letter. We add a <br> symbol. This is a LINE BREAK symbol and we will put it against the punctuation mark of the last word in the greeting. Thus, we now have:

<HTML><H1><p>Dear Aunt Emm,<br>

7.
I shall add a short, (very short) paragraph showing it with the code string:

<HTML><H1><p>Dear Aunt Emm,<br><p>My dog has fleas.

Short enough?

8. Let's write a 2nd paragraph! This is soOO easy! We need another <br> and <p> symbol. add them and you have:

<HTML><H1><p>Dear Aunt Emm,<br><p>My dog has fleas.<br<p>

Wasn't that easy? Easy, YES, correct, NO. Look closely! I made the error of leaving out an
 >  (Angle Bracket) on our last <p> symbol for 2 <br> symbols. Isn't my writing lovely?

10. Now we add our salutation text:

<HTML><h1><p>Dear Aunt Emm,<br><p>My dog has fleas<br><p>The fleas belong in a circus.<br><p>The circus is in town<br><p>Maybe, the fleas will run away from home and join the circus!<br><p>YourNephew,<br><p>Billy<br><br>

I have added two blank lines below our salutation and now we must tell the computer to stop working.

<HTML> started the computer, and <H1> told it what we wanted it to do. We will add a slash (/) mark to each symbol which tells the computer to stop, The symbols will look like this </H1></HTML>

<HTML><H1><p>Dear Aunt Emm,<br><p>My dog has fleas.<br><p>The fleas belong in the circus.<br><p>The circus is in town.<br><p>Maybe the fleas will run away from home and join the circus!<br><p>Your Nephew<br><p>Billy<br><br></H1></HTML>

11.
Notice the last two symbols are in reverse of the order in which we first wrote them. We drive to work, go in the office, turn on our computer, work all day, then we reverse ourselves, we stop work, turn off the computer, leave the office and drive home. everything must be reversed!

Here is the finished letter ready to send:

<HTML><H1><p>Dear Aunt Emm,<br><p>My dog has fleas<br><p>The fleas belong in a circus.<br><p>The circus is in town<br><p>Maybe, the fleas will run away from home and join the circus!<br><p>Your Nephew,<br><p>Billy&;t'br><br></H1></HTML>

If you CCP this and send it to yourself, (Good practice) You should have a block letter of four one sentence paragraphs, with a single blank line between each paragraph.

The salutation, I treated as two paragraphs, otherwise, it would appear to be part of the last paragraph,

You have now learned to write a LARGE TEXT letter and to use 19 HTML code tags or symbols. Congratulations!

<HTML> The starting symbol for any html code document.

</HTML> The Very Last symbol in any html document, all other code symbols must exist between these two symbols or they will not be read.

<H1> Thru <H7> The seven Heading symbols, that determine heading sizes.

</H1> :Thru </H7>

<BR> :The break symbol for making blank lines,and.............

<P> The paragraph start symbol. There is a stop paragraph </P> symbol, that may be used, but is not necessary as most computers recognize that if you start a new paragraph, they must stop the earlier paragraph.

NOW GO PRACTICE!!
