Sikhs at Indore celebrate!!

The visit of Sant Maskeen ji, the renowned Sikh thinker, to Indore, and the welcome rally which took him to Omkareshwar for his programme, marked the grand opening of the tercentenary celebrations by the Sikhs at Indore. His thought provoking talks enlightened Indore for 4 days, from 2nd April onwards.

On 5th and 6th April, 1999, we had the pleasure to welcome the Sikh March which was on its way to Anandpur Sahib. The March passed all across the city, and was felicitated at all the Gurudwaras in the city.

On 9th April, the postage stamp in honour of the completion of 300 years of the Birth of Khalsa, which depicts Anandpur Sahib and the tercentenary logo, was released at Indore in a programme organised by the department of posts by Post Master General, Sardar A S I S Pal.

On 12th April 1999, a grand "Khalsa Awakening March" was organised by the Shri Guru Singh Sabha at Indore, which had thousands of devotees from all communities participating in it. This was followed by "Langar" or the comunity kitchen.

Grand programmes were organised during the period 12th to 14th April, 1999, as part of the celebrations. This included leading Kirtan groups performing at the venue, Khalsa College ground, at Indore. The Guru Nanak Jayanti in November 1999 again sw a huge procession being taken out form the streets of Indore with much fanfare, and was followed by a mega-Kirtan Durbar where various leading Ragi Jathas gave their programmes. The grand finale to the Tercentenary celebrations was held on 14th April, 2000, at the new, huge enclosed venue built inside Khalsa College, Indore. And this website is an humble effort to bring the festivities to your desktop, through the medium of the internet, crossing all boundaries of distance, faith or belief.
