Sushmita has the unique distinction of being the only Indian who won the Miss Universe title in 1994, and in the same year Aishwarya Rai, who had stood second to her in the Miss India contest, won the Miss World title. So, 1994 was the year of the Indian beauty queens to rule the world.
Sushmita began her film career with Dastak, a movie that didn't do very well. Thereafter, she has had few more releases with mixed success. She was the attention of media at the time of her entry in Bollywood, also due to the fact that she had, a la Pamela Anderson, probably got Silicon implants to boost her....,er,.....career.
