A little history...

At various times in our journey in this life we might find that we've forgotten how to let our spirits breathe or how to feel, or simply how to dream -- we forget to live and let our spirits soar.

Then we meet someone, or we read something, or see something that strikes a chord in us and something inside us stirs, awakens.

Healer came from one of those periods where someone stirred memories of when I was alive, not floundering in the dilemmas of everyday life, struggling with juggling the myriad of responsibilities that threatened to overwhelm me. I began to really seek out the truth of my spirituality, the beating of my soul's heart and found the ability to see through my spirit and to dream. This was borne of that time. It started off a poem of thanks and became a love poem to the healing nature of love and a song of joy...

Thank you for inspiring me to dare to dream, to fly, and to feel again with the telling of your life. You encourage me in all you do and all you are. I am indebted to you forever...

 Je t'adore.

The Healer

L. Kathleen Mathis, 6/10/97

You touched me

and you knew not.

You touched me,

now I breathe not,

nor suffer

the fire,

the ice

of Death

any more.

You touched me,

in the lightness of your hand,

the sweetness of your gaze,

the tenderness of kindness.

You restored to me

the cool bosom of the Mother

the earth, the water

which bore us,

You remembered in me

the breath of the Heavens

which causes the spirit to dream

to walk,

to race,

to Be.

In the breath of your kiss,

the beating of your heart,

the warmth of you,

You touched me.

I

awoke.

You collected me

in my fragments,

and laid them in the sun.

Caused your hands to move over me

and I was one.

Joy breathed on me.

You mingled your spirit with mine

and restored my soul.

My wings

once bound

now free to soar,

to lift me to the heavens

to Be

once more.

No more a child in darkness

nor a blind woman asleep.

The blood pulses through my body

and life courses through my soul.

Once more can I look to the Heavens

and feel my soul touch the skies,

feel that old longing

for from hence came I.

You touched me

and you knew not.

You touched me

But I'll be forgot.

No matter still

You touched me.

And now, like the wind,

I'm free
