Observations.
The track was slick and slippery as is shown by the falls. Petri Kokko had a fall but picked himself up and finished to score a point.
There was a run off between the local Paul Jensen and Slovenian Matej Ferjan to determine who won the trophy. Jensen gated and took the chequered after the two laps. The reserve Robbie Price rode a bit of a race, took a somersaulting high side and finished up taking an ambulance ride to the hospital. Tony Briggs swapped his bike for a mike and was the colour commentator for the solo races. He is still injured.

Also featured as part of the meeting was the elimination heats of the North Island Teams Classic.
Streetstocks.
Auckland with two ring ins from Kihikihi making up the team beat Waikato. Tony Gavin took the chequered, Bill Peat did the stirring and Merv Lewis thought he had an under bonnet fire.
Rotorua beat Wellington in a messy race. Alan King took the flag but his mates Mark Hedge and NZ 1 & 2 Eddie Oodson and Graham Keatridge kept spinning the Wellington team cars.
Standard Stocks.
Rotorua beat Waikato after 75h Aaron Zampese had his winning race negated with a disqualification.
The Auckland AlleyCats decked the Hawkes Bay (who had two ring ins to make the numbers). Peter Church took the victory, with Blu Rawiri in a borrowed car and Carlos Chesnutt in the Batmobile making the contact. Mark Thompson raced away to a lead for a while, made the contact required, then retired mid corner with a blown water hose.
A-Grade Stockcars.
The new look Auckland All Stars went down to The Rotorua Rebels. The rebels went out with only four cars as Wayne Houston still awaits his motor. Lazlo Messaros, Rodney Wood and Stan Hickey cruised to victory in team formation after the last of the Auckland cars, Sam Legae stalled his badly steering car trying to restart a crippled team mate. Vic Neal spent the first part of the race pinned against the wall by the 18r car, then with a broken panhard rod on the front and radius bars bent around a frame upright could not steer well enough to continue even had his engine refired after a spin. Clive Bracey pulled to the infield with a shower of sparks from underneath probably a repeat of his GP gearbox maladies. Aaron Hedington in 16 was the reserve after replacing 17 Ric Campbell who never got his engine back running after the Nationals. Team Capt Neil McCord was running strong when Rotorua’s Aucklander Tony Takurua in the Green Team 113r picked up the sideways tank and ran over him. Both cars rolled. Neil for the first time in 21 years of racing.
Waikato beat Wellington who only fronted with four cars and borrowed a local as their reserve. The result was under a cloud as Kerry Remnant who was given the win was thought to be down another lap. Wellingtons Wayne Hemi was leading into the final turn until he was bombed by Chris Britton and delayed long enough for the 19h to slip past. Darron Grey had a fire, Tony MacLanachan and Eddie Hawkins tried but Waikato were given the nod. Phil Dove ended up steering onto the infield but Dave Roigard was still running fast at the end.

Limited Saloons were also on the bill. Graig Richards was the one to beat. Mark Osbornes new car turned turtle in a spectacular dump at the head of the field. Mark climbed out gingerly and is stiff the car is bent but not wrecked.

Pics will come later in the week.
