The first 6 were inverted on the grid after two qualifying races. Top qualifier was 11k Alvin Cobb.
Grids (excuse the mistakes in the names)
1. 7h Murray Stewart
2. 48k Murray Prowse
3. 96r Andrew Jenkins
4. 1nz Kevin Jamieson
5. 10h Lee Hyslop
6. 11k Alvin Cobb
7. 15r Gary Cooper
8. 24k Ross Davies
9. 5h Shirley-Joy Barrow
10. 9h Lyndsay Fletcher
11. 64r Neil Wahrlick
12 18r David Hughes
RESULTS
1st 1nz, 2nd 11k, 3rd 96r, 4th 7r, 5th 5h, 6th 9h.
24k went hard into the wall, 15r and 18r both rolled in separate incidents. Jenkins took the lead off early pace setter Jamieson but looped two laps later when the rapidly slickening track caught him unawares. The 1nz then had a side panel peel on his wing and Alvin Cobb pressured hard for the lead but couldn’t make the telling pass on Jamieson who thought he had a tyre going down because of the way the car was reacting to the broken wing.

Ray Brindle in the local car 12k ran identical tyres on both sides of the rear axle running 26 x 12’s and no stagger. He spun out of the race.
