Electing to bat after winning the toss, the Wesleyan opening batsman were in all sorts of trouble against Asif and Jega. The only runs seem to be coming in the form of extras thanks to the nature of the pitch. Asif drew the first blood for the Gypsies by uprooting Micheal's off-stump with the score at 12. Captain Sanjay was soon to follow bowled by the "Gypsies Express" Asif. Jega was quite unlucky in not finding the edge of the bat. Dominque spooned a simple catch to Anand off Asif at short-leg and the home team as reduced to 20/3. Asif was not done yet. In his final over Shariq had no clue to a superfast delivery off Asif. By the time Asif completed his spell he had 4 wickets for 18 runs and most of runs came from extras due to the pitch. Mugunthan and Anand bowled an impeccable line and made the scoring even more difficult. TK was next to go stumped off Sridhar with the score at 39. Just before the drinks interval Anand bowled Ravi and the WCC was placed at 43/6 in 14.3 overs. Hari and Swarna steadied the rocking boat before Sugan came up with a brilliant catch to dismiss Hari off Anand. Satish joined Swarna and they played some intelligent cricket. Still runs were coming mostly off extras. Satish was finally out caught by Mugunthan off Sugan's bowling for 9 runs with the score at 87. He was the highest scorer. Arnab was bowled off Mahesh. The home side was allout on the last ball when Arvind and Anand combined for a runout. The home side made a respectable 93 with 58 of those runs coming in extras.
Chasing a modest total the Gypsies started cautiously. Sathya and Sugan were starting to get comfortable. Sugan was first to go when Ravi had his stump castled with the score at 18. Sathya departed soon after making 11 runs bowled by Ravi. Mahesh and Suresh played strokes all over the field and the Gypsies raced to 38 without loss of any wicket. Mahesh was unlucky bowled by TK off a delivery which kept low. Mahesh made 10 runs. Mugunthan did not last too long bowled by Satish with the score at 41. Suddenly the Gyspies were not too happy at the turn of events. However, Sukesh and his brother Suresh had other ideas. Keeping their heads down they played some fantastic cricket. Suresh played an anchor role while Sukesh was brutal especially on TK scoring 11 runs in his final over. The Gypsies reached 84 before Sukesh fell to an LBW decision off Ravi. Sukesh made 23 valuable runs including a 4 and a six. Then the slide started. The Gypsies who were coasting to an easy win suddenly had their backs to the wall as Arvind, Sridhar, Jega fell in quick succession. Suresh and Anand however played good cricket and the Gypsies won with 15 overs to spare. Suresh remained not out at 18 runs.
