"Social Audit" we say "Social Garbage"

Council workers suffer the death of a thousand cuts

These fumbling, stumbling, bumbling and incompetent Union representatives are at it again!

"It has been endorsed by local government bodies to conduct a social audit"

Will this audit be just another false trail to cover up the real quarry of the hunt:

"Lower Wages for Local Government Workers"

Who will conduct this audit?

The very people who have more to gain from the privatization of Local Government!

There is no time for resource wasting exercises like this, exercises that provide well paid positions for Union and Government officials who are already earning far in excess of the average Local Government Employee.

The average wage for a Union Organizer is $900 per week, this does not include the cost of a luxury car. Mobile phone and all the other ancillary expenses that they see fit to charge to the Union Membership.

These are the same people who advocated the new aristocracy at the recent referendum, that we clean the nest of one group of termites and install this new breed of termites, who will then, like white ants continue to eat away at the very foundations of our land.

How many local government jobs would this change create? NONE!

At the time of Federation 1901, we had a standard of living that was regarded as 5th in the world, after years of this clap trap and the bloodsucking by self perpetuating organizations we are almost 50th in the world.

Local government Workers are among the lowest paid workers, not only in N.S.W. , but in Australia , and from the reports we are collating from around the state it is going to deteriorate even further.

While this farcical "SOCIAL AUDIT" is being strung out, the N.S.W. Local Government 2000 Award will be slid in through the back door. This award will do away with the need for Compulsory / Competitive Tendering.

It will consist of well-camouflaged methods of obtaining the same results, e.g.:

  1. Lower wages
  2. Market Testing
  3. Business Units
  4. Best Value
  5. Best Practice

 

"Can you trust your work mate"

There will be clauses that bind you to DOB on your work mates.

You will be turned into a policeman for your employer, you will feel apprehensive about how openly you speak and to whom.

We will not give examples, but we suggest that you consider the implications of a work environment, where you cannot trust the person you work with.

Think about it!

This isn’t just about a mates disagreement , this is the real grass em up and jail em!

For us, it paints pictures of Fascist Germany in the 1930`s!

While no one has reported knocks at 3:00am, we have had reports of courier deliveries while on sick leave or at weekends, of the "don’t come Monday" nature. These have been under the guise of disciplinary matters.

The "Local Government Clean up the Union Team", can only suggest that all members demand to see a representative, and ask the questions which must be asked. That is, if you can find a Union Representative other than your Job Delegate.

If they can, Why Cant You

The CFMEU , has wasted no time in mobilizing its troops into action . Within days of BHP, announcing they wanted their workers on contracts, the CFMEU , went into action.

They had mobilized the Trade Union movement ready to do battle with this crumbling conglomerate. Within hours they had this company at the negotiating table.

This Union has had Compulsory Competitive Tendering on its table since the Union Election, and what has this

Union done.

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING

The fact is that before this election this Tendering, Market Testing, and Business Unit system had been working for the Union Members. The councils that had embraced them had received massive pay rises, far in excess of the state award. There are also a few councils who have gained extraordinary pay rises from Australian/Local Workplace Agreements.

BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME

The stinking thinking must be banished!

For rural areas, Workplace Agreements are imperative to keep employment in the area, there must be a different thought process put into action, there must be an activation of Public Works, after the Olympics. The resources that were used to capitalize this "Bread and Circus " activity, must now be channeled into rural New South Wales.

These massive resources could be channeled into the state road network, rail network, tourism for not only the north coast, but the west of the state. There are people from around the world who would pay high prices for a taste of the real Australia, a taste of how the Real Battler lives, not the "struggle street" ,or "keeping the dream alive" of millionaire radio jocks.

All this can only be achieved by pulling together. The Carr government, while not perfect, is attempting to do this. Rather than just emotionally follow the loudmouths, we ask, that you ponder on the decisions that are emanating from this government.

There is only one cake, and it must be divided as equally as possible, those who are disadvantaged must of course be treated a little more fairly, by that we refer to Rural New South Wales.

GREED

We have previously suggested you demand to know what payments the employees of this Union are receiving.

We would also suggest that the Minister for Education publish the remuneration including all the conditions of the teachers in this state. I believe that most reasonable people will be shocked as to the drain each teacher is on the community.

The Minister for Transport should publish the wages and conditions of the railway station masters who have through their reluctance to adapt, have cost the battlers in this state millions in lost wages and the state millions in lost productivity.

Remember the public purse is not an endless pit of money, and the ones to suffer most are those in rural areas.

Again who is suffering? The Local Government Employee.

 

We again ask the question?

What has this Union achieved, other than loss of jobs, loss of wages, loss of members, and loss of dignity?

NOTHING! ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

Questions you must ask yourself?

Is it in my interests to maintain membership of this Union?

Or

Shall I resign immediately, regain my self-esteem and give myself a pay rise?
