After all the sabre rattling, the bravado, talking the talk, but not walking the walk, this Union has finally taken some Industrial Action.

And what a "Dogs Dinner", it has made of it, what a mess?

Members are losing their jobs by the hundred, because the Labor State Government needs to implement austerity measures, to ensure a disciplined fiscal responsibility for ALL the citizens of this State.

Council Amalgamations are now par for the course, sensible councils have invited this Union to work together to attempt to save jobs, by "Market Testing" and operating self funded "Business Units".

And what cause do these people pick to activate Industrial Action, the last resort in any negotiation, a personal dispute between a Mayor and a General Manager.

What a farce!

As reported in the Daily Telegraph, 26/10/99.

Staff at Ku-ring-gai Council, have been encouraged to implement work bans because the "General Manager and the Mayor are having a disagreement." A disagreement over whom has what car and how clean it should be. This Industrial Action is Illegal, and this Council should act.

  1. What has this got to do with, massive job losses in rural New South Wales?
  2. What has this got to do with job losses through Council Amalgamations?
  3. What has this got to do with incompetent Union Representation?
  4. What has this got to do with losing hard-earned conditions?
  5. What has this got to do with members being intimidated?

This disgraceful behavior against Kuringai Council should not be permitted, the Mayor is not a member of this Union and neither is the General Manager. So let them fight it out among themselves.

These are just red herrings to get the members to take their eyes of the ball.

We have members all over this State, who are losing their Jobs, who are having their Pay cut, who are being harassed and intimidated over sick leave. Where are these Paid Union representatives, "off on stress leave", "guilty consciences" more likely. Why has industrial action not been taken in Metropolitan Councils, that have suffered enormous loses of conditions in the past three months?

Why has industrial action not been taken in rural areas in which councils have had funding cut, and the Union will not co-operate to ensure employment?

Action must be taken;

Demand a new Union Election.

Already, investigations by several statutory bodies, and investigative organizations are being conducted into the behavior of not only individuals, but also the entity, in its entirety.

These inquiries are not confined to the recent elections, and expand into other areas of government, not restricted to local government. This could explain the recent excess in the use of stress leave.

This Unions` first and only mandate is to do the bidding of its members.

This Union is falling apart, like the Titanic, it has but a short time left, let us not sink with this degenerate wreck!

Employees and Officials are jumping on the lifeboats, named Stress, Nervous Nellie, Medically Unfit, and Redundant, if these queue jumpers are not stopped there will be nothing left.

The questions you must ask of yourself is:

Is it in my interests to maintain membership of this Union?

Or

Shall I resign immediately, regain my self-esteem and give myself a pay rise?
