The third window is dedicated to St. John, Apostle and
Evangelist. He is shown here holding a pen and a book indicating that he wrote a Gospel.
Here also is the traditional emblem of the eagle, which is said to fly higher than any
other bird and indeed in his gospel St. John ascends to the contemplation of our Lord's
divine nature. He is shown here as being clean shaven, as he was believed to be one of the
younger Apostles. His day is December 27th.
