On the north side of the Church, beginning nearest the Altar, we find St.
Simon carrying a saw, the traditional means of his martyrdom. Below, the medallion shows a
fish and a boat-hook, deriving from his former occupation as a fisherman, and perhaps to
remind us that he was also a fisher of men through his preaching of the Gospel. His day is
combined with that of St. Jude, October 28.
