Grassick MacGreusaich Souter
From the Gaelic word 'greusaich' or 'griasaich' meaning shoemaker. This name is common in upper Aberdeenshire between the Dee and Don Rivers. John Grasse was a tenant in Crathienard in 1539. Alester and John Grassich and Alester Grash were part of the Farquharson force that went against Clan Godron in 1666. Souter is possibly a translation of Grassick since both mean shoemaker. Patrick Southar in Strathdee in 1527.
