Hardy MacHardy MacCartney

From one of two origins. The first being an imported French surname from the old French name "Hardi" meaning bold. The other being from the Gaelic "MacChardich" or "Son of the sloe". From the Records of Invercauld it is written that the Hardies were "a wild and extravagant race." It is impossible to look into ay section of Upper Deeside history and not find a mention of a MacHardie.
