Finlay Finlayson MacKinlay
These are the people descended from Finla Mor, the man who was responsible for making the leap between a minor family and a respectable clan in the history of Clan Farquharson. Finla helped make the power of the clan grow to unheard of strengths in the family's history. It is from Finla that the Clan recieved its Gaelic name, Clann Fhionnlaidgh or "The Children of Finlay". It is from that Gaelic name that MacKinlay comes from. Many of those of the name of MacKinlay found their way into Argyleshire. However all are from the same Finla Mor who held the Royal Banner at the Battle of Pinkie.
