He was born in Whitenap, Romsey in 1876 the son of Richard Archer and Ann (nee
Townsend). He married Elizabeth Mary Spencer in about 1896 and they had 2 sons and 4
daughters.
Mr Archer was rescued in lifeboat 16.
He died on 17 October 1917 of Tuberculosis, aged 41, and is buried at St Mary Extra
Cemetery, Sholing, Southampton.
