Recently I had the chance to show an 8th grade student what I do ! I would like you to meet Tom our shadow for the entire day.. Tom had the chance to learn about metering and how the billing system worked. After a couple of hours he came onto the linecrew for the remainder of the day. At that time Tom got to learn the basic tools of the trade specialized and unspecialized. He was shown the basics of the truck and its operation. Then we took a ride through town for his first time in a large truck! That concluded our morning and broke for lunch. After the noon hour Tom and myself and several other members of our crew headed out into the field! We have always had A long standing rule that before you can fly the bucket you need to learn how to climb A pole! So at that time Tom was outfitted with pole climbing gear and taught the proper use of the gear and allowed to assend the pole several feet. Once all the guys were satisfied that Tom had mastered the skills needed to climb a pole we gave him a shot at the operation of the bucket truck with 55 feet of stick to fly!
