THE LATENESS OF THE HOUR

An Eric Matthews Fanpage

THE MAN and THE MUSIC

Eric Matthews is one of the few truly talented musicians to surface in the 1990's. For those of us who are tired of the majority of pathetic music that has been thrust upon us, Eric Matthews offers us a very nice alternative. And I mean alternative in the best sense of the word.
Eric has a broad spectrum of musical influences ranging from 60's pop (The Left Banke, Paul McCartney (The Beatles), Burt Bacharach, The Beach Boys, The Bee Gees) to punk/new wave artists (The Damned, A-Ha, XTC, Tears for Fears, The Church, Men at Work). Other influences include David Sylvian and Dead Can Dance. Eric is also a fan of TV themes and incidental music for TV and films.

Eric Matthews is also a member of a very elite group of musicians in the, somewhat underground, 90's pop music scene. These include: Jason Falkner, Spookey Ruben, Bob Fay, Wes Matthews (Eric's talented brother) and Richard Davies. Eric has released two albums on SubPop Records; It's Heavy In Here (1995) and The Lateness Of The Hour (1997). Prior to that he released an album on Flydaddy Records in 1994 as one half of the duo known as Cardinal (the other half being Richard Davies).
