MY PRECIOUS
PRINCES THREE
"Today, I am the queen
That you said I'd never be.
I have earned the pure love
Of my precious princes, three."
These are my sons.
Winterson is 26, Joe is 22 and Tom is 19.
The boys make it very easy to be their mother.
All I have to do is cook and clean for them, chauffeur them around town and record phone messages for them. I also have to remember where they put their shoes, their books, their footballs, their contacts and their brains.
It's a job anyone can do.
Winterson will be returning to studies in the near future or risk getting his butt kicked by his mother. I love the thoughtful, sensitive, campassionate person that he is.
Joe is taking Police Foundations at the local college. I figure that's my ticket to speed and a free "get out of jail" card. He's very active in school and city sports. He thinks he is a chick magnet but I think they just feel sorry for him. His life is rugby and rugby is his life.
Tom, my precious little baby, is in his first year of college.
He is studying Chemical Productions Engineering Technology or something like that. I forget how he got old enough to go to college. Everything seems to be a bit hazy to me.
Tom has a marvellous sense of humour and a very mature understanding of people.
His wisdom often leaves me in awe of him.
My boys have always wanted to have lizards or iguanas. I have told them repeatedly, that they can have something green or they can have a mother. So far, I've been lucky and they have chosen to keep me.
I am softening in my old age, and boys . . . I offer you this green pet to guard you and keep you safe and also because he reminds me a lot of all three of you.
A MOTHER'S PRAYER FOR A SON
Lord, give my son the realization, that this life
is only a journey, and he is going back home,
where he came from.
* * * * *
Let him walk on Earth lightly, but firmly.
Let him not carry any excess baggage of guilt, greed
and fear, but only the wisdom of his experiences.
* * * * *
Lord, make my son a Man,
who's dignity is his highest possession.
And who's confidence will never be used for
vengeance.
* * * * *
Make my son to hold his head above,
where the eagles soar.
And yet, his feet grounded on the Earth.
* * * * *
Make my son a Man, who will not measure
his power and greatness by his fortune,
but by his virtue.
* * * * *
Lord, make my son rich, but also let him realize,
that penniless he still can own the world.
* * * * *
Make my son, O Lord, not to look for You,
not to hope, that You will help him,
but believe, that You are always with him.
* * * * *
Do not allow him the luxury of dwelling in fear,
but give him the power to make fear
the founding stone of his success.
* * * * *
Let him learn to laugh at himself.
Let him see through things,
but also enjoy things the way they are.
* * * * *
Let his intellect be his compass,
but let his heart be his guide to set the mark.
* * * * *
Let him be balanced in pain and pleasure.
Let him know, that there is always
one more step to be taken,
* * * * *
O Lord, let him always remember,
that he was made in Your Image.
* * * * *
Let him know, that beauty and strength are
synonymous, Let him have the purity of the sage,
the passion of a lover and the industry of an artisan.
* * * * *
And with all these, make him an invincible
warrior,and endow him with the greatest
weapon . . . Love.
* * * * *
I am blessed to be a mother.
Thank You, my Lord.
Thank You . . . .
