Music~What it's really about.

For those of you that don't already know, the Squirrel Nut Zippers are a melting pot of music genres. I usually refer to their style as swing, but there are clear latin/gitano influences. Jazz, swing, it is all good to me!!

I love this music! I love jazz, swing, big band, blues, and a lot of other styles. It puts me in a good mood, makes me wanna swing. And I do. I used to be a strict new rock/alternative listener until I heard the Squirrel Nut Zippers. They've broadened my tastes, believe it or not. Inspired by the SNZ, I decided to join my high school's jazz band. I ended up playing in it for two years. It wasn't lame at all, like some of you might think since it was school-related. It was really some of the most fun I had in high school, and it inspired me to start playing my sax again (FOR FUN!). I was also given the opportunity to sing with the band! Not quite Katherine Whalen, but oh well! I listen to jazz because it is creative, fun, and so different than what you normally hear on the radio. I love it!!!
