Soldier Blue

Bubblegum Crash! Drama CD

Soldier Blue was written by Toshimichi Suzuki in order to connect the incidents between Bubblegum Crisis and Bubblegum Crash!. The story, though interesting in its own right, is often confusing and seems to contradict what happens in Bubblegum Crisis and Bubblegum Crash!. Sylia Stingray seems incredibly out of character and the idea that she has split personalities is implied oddly at several points, the other personality being 'Reishi.' The nostalgic scent of the flowers also leaves a little to be explained (on the cover art they appear to be lotuses, so...). It is indicated in the portion focusing on Priss that she and Leon develop a romantic relationship, but in Bubblegum Crash! the one time they are shown together, while Priss is more 'playful' than in the past, they are obviously not involved with one another.

Overall, Soldier Blue is interesting to read, or listen to if you have access to the CD, but don't expect it to fill in any gaps or make much sense at all. As it is, the one part that fits together with everything else was the part with Nene and Mackie saying good-bye before his trip to Germany.
