Some things that I enjoy: --Chocolate and peanut butter --Salt and vinegar potato chips --Pasta and Thai food --Sunsets and rainbows -- A handsome and intelligent man who is not afraid to show his feelings. Well that is a good start. etjb ______________________________________________ I think one short passage can sum up very well what the Bible is all about, if we're quoting scripture here. Matthew 21:17 - "And he left them, and went out of the city into Bethany, and he lodged there;" Think about it, won't you? Anyway, some of my favorite things, taken from not that much experience yet. Music - Gaelic, especially Enya; Jazz, especially 'Kind of Blue' and Stephane Grapelli; Classical, especially Sibelius; Scandinavian, when good; Medieval, only Medieval Babes; They Might Be Giants and Tori Amos, who have no category. Movies - 'Primary Colors' for politics, 'Rear Window' for Hitchcock, 'MST 3K: The Movie' for comedy (fuggin' hilarious, for anyone who hasn't seen it), 'The Omega Code' for sheer crazy propaganda, 'In Dreams' for creepiness, 'Life is Beautiful' for a date movie, 'Willow' for fantasy, 'Reds' for one I swear to see ASAP. Political Stances - 'Choice' for abortion, 'Pro' for gun control, 'Pro' for gay marriage, 'Pro' for universal health care, 'Con' for mowing down the elderly. (I mention these as 'favorites' because they're the ones I care about more than anything.) TL Conservative - JP, by a huge margin. I can't say which liberals I like better, for obvious reasons that have a lot to do with charges of shameless ass-kissing. Books - 'The Mists of Avalon' because it made me who I am, 'Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man' because it renewed my faith in goodness and being a writer for a living, 'The Prophet' because it was the wisest piece of literature I'd ever found (this is an old book by a Syrian poet named Kahlil Gibran - if you can ever find a copy, you'd like it, and I don't even care who you are), 'The Adventures of Little Bear' because it was the first book I got my girlfriend and because the drawings of that funny little guy are so adorable, 'She's Come Undone' because it was realistic, 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' because I swear that book was written about me (except for the wallflower and surprise ending parts, which no one wants me to explain), and 'Shadow Moon' because it was the only fantasy book I ever read without any touches of lameness. Songs/Albums - "Traditional Irish Song" by Denis Leary, "Fagaim Mo Bhaile," "Boadicea" and "I Want Tomorrow" by Enya, "She's an Angel" by TMBG (not lame, by the way), "Worldes Blysse" (Album) by Med. Baebes, "Summertime" by Miles Davis - I know he didn't write it, but I like his interpretation best. That'll do for that, I suppose. Miscellaneous - Heavy-duty backpacking, enduring the cold when I'm outdoors before the sun comes up, being out in nature when it's raining, writing poetry about my girlfriend that doesn't suck, being with my girlfriend because it doesn't suck, watching movies with my best friend because we always rip them apart, my overwhelming sense of optimism about my future, being past adolescence, having coffee with my mum.
