William McKinley

McKinley's first term is best remembered because of
the Spanish-American War which occured in 1898 from April 25
to October 10.
Although McKinley was re-elected in 1900 his second term
did not last long. Leon Czolgosz was convicted of murdering
McKinley on September 6, 1901 and electrocuted. When McKinley
died on September 14, 1901, his Vice President Theodore
Roosevelt became President. At 42 Roosevelt was the youngest
President that the country had had.
